It is dark. A lone man is walking down an empty gravel, country road. His car broke down a few miles back -- bad news for a man driving alone through the middle of the night -- and he must now make the trek to the nearest phone, and god knows where that is. Somewhere off to the side of the road, he can hear the lapping of waves, soft and soothing to his frayed nerves. Dawn begins to break, sending rays of light glinting off the lake, which he can now see is quite close by. The man has been walking for hours; he steps off the road and sits down on the beach, which is both rocky and sandy. As the sun continues to rise, birds begin to sing, and the man cries, alone.
